IMPRS Retreat 2025 in Czech Republic with FZU Prague
The IMPRS retreat 2025 was co-organized with FZU Prague and took place at Hrubá Skála (Czech Republic).
This year’s IMPRS retreat was co-organized with the Jungwirth Group at the Czech Academy of Sciences and featured a program centered on three key scientific sessions
1. Spintronics and thin-films,
2. Superconductivity and low temperature phenomena,
3. Emerging Spectroscopy and Detection Techniques.
The participating doctoral researchers found the "Outlook on quantum materials and low-temperature physics for early career researchers", which was discussed in the second session, particularly impressive. Another highlight was the roundtable discussion on "Pursuing science in the current age", in which experienced and young researchers spoke openly about the challenges and opportunities of scientific careers.
The scientific program was complemented by a rich and diverse supporting program: a guided tour of the company CRYTUR, a leading Czech company specializing in integrated opto-electronic solutions, a tour of a local brewery and a joint hike on the last day. The visit to the laboratories of the FZU provided an exciting insight into current research work on site. Intensive discussions, new ideas and the basis for future collaborations developed over the four days.
We are grateful for finacial support from the Deutsch-Tschechischer Zukunftsfonds, which made our successful cross-border initiative possible.
